Job Summary: The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, operations, estimating, and project management functions for electrical construction projects. This includes transmission, distribution, and high-voltage electrical substation construction across PNODE clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating project activities to ensure timely execution.
  • Support budget administration, cost control, and process optimization to maintain efficiency.
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and communicate potential delays or mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication by serving as a liaison between project teams and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Relay Technician

Job Summary: PNODE is seeking a dedicated and skilled Relay Technician to join our team. The Relay Technician will be responsible for the installation, testing, inspection, maintenance, calibration, and repair of protective relays, control systems, and associated electrical equipment in substations, power plants, and industrial facilities. This role ensures that systems operate correctly to detect abnormal conditions and isolate faults to minimize damage and ensure system stability.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and commission protection, control, and communication automation systems, including electromechanical, solid-state, and digital/microprocessor-based technologies.
  • Assist in wiring and termination of protection/control circuits in substations and control panels.
  • Calibrate relays and protection equipment to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Conduct functional testing of protection schemes (overcurrent, distance, differential, under/over voltage, etc.).
  • Inspect and maintain existing relay installations and protective systems.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning relays, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and test reports for each maintenance or repair activity.
  • Ensure all activities follow electrical codes, safety regulations, and utility standards.

Substation Technician

Job Summary: PNODE is seeking a dedicated and skilled Substation Technician to join our team. The Substation Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of high-voltage electrical equipment in substations, including power and voltage transformers, circuit breakers/switchers, switches, and protection/control systems. This role ensures that substations operate efficiently and safely, supporting the continuous flow of electricity in the power grid or industrial systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, install, inspect, and maintain substation components (transformers, breakers, disconnects, bus work, control panels).
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on substation equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Perform high-voltage switching and grounding in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in protective relaying systems, switchgear, and control circuitry.
  • Use test equipment such as insulation resistance testers, Doble test sets, and multimeters.
  • Support emergency response operations and after-hours callouts.
  • Comply with all state and local electrical laws, and adhere to NERC, FERC, NESC, NEC, and OSHA standards.

Requirements:

  • Associate or technical diploma in electrical engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in substation or electrical utility work.
  • Understanding of high-voltage systems, electrical theory, and safety procedures including substation systems like auxiliary power, raceway systems, control house, grounding work, bus bar systems, and connectors.
  • Proficiency with relay test equipment (e.g., Omicron CMC, Doble F6150, Megger SMRT).
  • Experience using test equipment such as Megger, multimeters, and relay test sets.
  • Physical ability to stand/walk 8–10 hours, climb ladders up to 20 feet, lift up to 80 pounds, and work in all weather conditions and constrained spaces.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; Class A CDL preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NETA Certifications (Level II or higher).
  • Certifications: OSHA 10, OSHA 30.
